🇺🇬🌍 Uganda’s three-day high-level engagement with the African Union Commission on the CAADP Kampala Declaration and CAADP Strategy & Action Plan 2026–2035 concluded with a shared commitment to accelerate implementation. The engagement brought together Government, the @_AfricanUnion Commission, development partners, financial institutions, researchers, farmers’ organisations and the private sector around one central objective: turning agricultural potential into measurable development results.

The engagement also reinforced the importance of regional integration and Economic & Commercial Diplomacy in opening markets, attracting investment, building partnerships and positioning Uganda’s products within African and global value chains. IHK offered to host and train an initial 5–8 Ugandan TVET practitioners/trainees, with discussions also advancing a proposed MoU on dual vocational training, industry linkages, technology transfer and investment. 🇺🇬🌍 The second day of the CAADP Kampala Declaration engagements is underway in Kampala, bringing together Government, the @_AfricanUnion Union Commission, development partners, financial institutions, researchers, the private sector and farmers’ organisations. Opening the discussions, Maj. Gen. David Kasura Kyomukama, PS @MAAIF_Uganda, highlighted Uganda’s growing agrifood potential: the country exported more than 9.3 million 60-kg bags of coffee in FY2025/26, generating about US$2.5 billion, while annual milk production has surpassed 5.4 billion litres. 🌍📈 Day Two’s discussions are examining how Uganda can capture more value from agriculture — through processing, certification, traceability, branding, logistics, technology, finance and stronger access to regional and global markets. The comparison with countries such as Vietnam, whose agricultural exports have reached around US$73 billion, underscores the scale of the opportunity. Uganda has the natural resources, farmers, research capacity and strategic market position. The task is to connect these assets into productive, commercially viable and globally competitive agrifood systems. #CLOSURE 🇺🇬|🇳🇬 Uganda-Nigeria Business Forum & Exhibition

@HonKyeyune, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Cooperation, expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Uganda High Commission in Abuja for successfully organising the Uganda–Nigeria Business Forum & Exhibition. He thanked the Ugandan and Nigerian delegates, partners and all stakeholders for honouring and participating in the two-day engagement.

He called for the immediate implementation of the forum’s resolutions, urging government institutions and the private sector to translate discussions into concrete trade, investment and business opportunities.

@HonKyeyune said the success of the two-day engagement should be measured not by speeches or participation, but by business deals, partnerships, investments, joint ventures, shipments of goods and services, and new market opportunities. “Talking is good, but after talking, do you have something in your pocket?”

He urged Ugandan businesses to look beyond the domestic market and leverage the AfCFTA to expand production, create jobs, add value and access wider African markets.

He also called on businesses to work closely with Uganda’s diplomatic missions by providing quality products and marketing materials to support the promotion of Uganda’s commercial interests abroad.

@HonKyeyune called for government institutions, the private sector and diplomatic missions to take ownership of the forum’s resolutions and ensure effective follow-up, including through the Uganda–Nigeria Joint Permanent Commission.

He urged participants to turn the connections made in Kampala into contracts, investments, partnerships, increased trade and stronger economic integration between Uganda and Nigeria.

On this auspicious day, I was pleased to officially open the African Union High-Level Country Engagement Mission in Kampala, Uganda 🇺🇬 , convened to support the operationalization and acceleration of the #CAADP Kampala Agenda.

Uganda’s commitment to transforming its agrifood systems is evident in the leadership, expertise and partnerships brought together through this mission. Following the strategic discussions of the Inter-Ministerial Session and our engagement with the National Agricultural Research Organisation @narouganda , our focus now turns to translating the Kampala CAADP commitments into practical actions, investments and measurable results.

The CAADP agenda provides Africa with an ambitious framework to build resilient, inclusive, sustainable and competitive agrifood systems. For Uganda, this means accelerating productivity, strengthening food and nutrition security, building climate resilience, mobilising investment, advancing research and innovation, and creating opportunities for women and young people.

As the African Union Commission (@_AfricanUnion), we remain committed to working closely with Member States to move from commitments to implementation, and from implementation to impact.

I look forward to the technical deliberations generating concrete recommendations and scalable solutions that can accelerate Uganda’s agricultural transformation and contribute to the broader aspirations of CAADP and Agenda 2063.

Both sides encouraged direct business-to-business engagement, diaspora participation and increased market access, with Nigeria’s large consumer market offering significant opportunities for Ugandan products and services.

Uganda was further presented as a competitive investment destination and gateway to regional markets, supported by its membership in regional trade blocs and the AfCFTA, investment incentives and a one-stop system for facilitating business approvals.

The showcase called for a shift from discussions to concrete deals, with stronger private-sector partnerships, technology development, value addition and investment aimed at expanding production, creating jobs and driving shared economic growth across Africa.

#DayTwo 🇺🇬|🇳🇬 Uganda-Nigeria Business Forum & Exhibition

The Investment and Business Showcase highlighted Uganda and Nigeria’s strong potential for investment, trade and industrial partnerships. Uganda presented its free zones as platforms for investors to establish regional production and export bases, supported by incentives including tax and duty exemptions.

Participants also highlighted Uganda’s strategic access to East and Central African markets, opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and technology, and the need to build African value chains through joint ventures and technology transfer.

The discussions emphasised the importance of strengthening Uganda–Nigeria business linkages by connecting credible businesses, harmonising standards and reducing regulatory and trade barriers. Opportunities were identified in defence and security, pharmaceuticals, construction, agriculture, food processing, cement, creative industries, mining and infrastructure.

UGANDA HIGH COMMISSION IN KUALA LUMPUR HOLDS STRATEGIC MEETING WITH COFFEX AHEAD OF UGANDA COFFEE CUPPING EVENT

Yesterday, @UgandaMalaysia held a strategic engagement with COFFEX, a major coffee importer and roaster in Malaysia with a strong presence across the ASEAN region.

The engagement was held in preparation for the upcoming Uganda Coffee Cupping Event in Kuala Lumpur, which aims to showcase the quality, diversity and distinctive profile of Ugandan coffee to the Malaysian and ASEAN markets.

H.E. Amb. Dr. Betty Bigombe, High Commissioner of Uganda to Malaysia, welcomed the growing collaboration with COFFEX, noting that the partnership has already contributed to increased exports of Ugandan coffee to Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region.

COFFEX, which currently imports Robusta coffee from Uganda, expressed its intention to increase import volumes from Uganda and to leverage its network to bring on board other coffee importers and roasters in Malaysia and across the ASEAN region to source coffee directly from Uganda.

The Permanent Mission of Uganda to the Afrtican Union in Addis Ababa, extends heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro and all Ugandans following the passing of His Majesty Rukirabasaija Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

His Majesty’s life and service to the Kingdom of Tooro and Uganda will be remembered for his humility, dignity and commitment.

Under the mentorship of H.E. President @KagutaMuseveni, he built cultural bridges across communities in Uganda, Africa and internationally, from a very young age. His Majesty championed Uganda’s youth to embrace agriculture for socio-economic transformation, while protecting and promoting culture and heritage. He served as UNAIDS Youth Ambassador in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

May the Almighty grant comfort and strength to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro and the nation of Uganda during this difficult time.

Mr. Stephen Asiimwe, CEO @PSF_Uganda urged Ugandan businesses to tap into Nigeria’s vast consumer market and build stronger commercial partnerships, particularly in coffee, tourism and the creative industries.

He highlighted the opportunity for Uganda to directly export coffee to Nigeria, establish joint ventures and leverage new air routes and business networks, while developing tourism products and creative-sector opportunities that can create jobs and grow Africa’s economy.

#DayTwo 🇺🇬|🇳🇬 Uganda–Nigeria Business Forum & Exhibition focuses on Business Pitches, Investment & Business Showcase, connecting entrepreneurs and investors to explore opportunities, forge partnerships and turn ideas into tangible ventures.

Mr. Kenneth Kisambira, CEO @UBAGroup emphasised that Africa’s future depends not only on its resources but on stronger partnerships, market access and the courage to turn opportunities into actual trade.

He called for Uganda and Nigeria to leverage their complementary strengths under the AfCFTA by moving from commodities to value chains, reducing payment and trade barriers, scaling African enterprises, investing in skills and ensuring bilateral agreements translate into measurable business, jobs and investment.

Mr. Ajay Kumar Pal, CEO @qcil_uganda2 highlighted the strong potential for Uganda–Nigeria cooperation in pharmaceuticals, noting that both countries have significant healthcare needs and still import much of their pharmaceutical products.

He called for greater intra-African production and trade while addressing regulatory restrictions, trade barriers, delays and currency-settlement challenges, stressing that governments create the enabling framework while the private sector must drive actual trade and investment.

Teachers build the people who build everything else.

Yesterday I hosted over 70 teaching and non-teaching staff from Ntare School and Trinity College Nabbingo on an education benchmarking visit to China, coordinated together with the consulate and Nazah Events, Tours & Travel.

A special moment for me: my father proudly attended Ntare, while Trinity’s Deputy Head is a fellow Namagunga OG.

My message was that Uganda must learn from China, but adapt those lessons to Uganda. Education must connect with technology, industry, research and the future needs of our economy.

Who will add value to our coffee, cocoa, minerals and other resources? Who will build globally competitive Ugandan brands?

The answer begins in our classrooms.

As I asked our educators: What can we do differently for the Ugandan child because we came to China? 🇺🇬🇨🇳
