Nigeria is a home for Africans. When any one is done running us down because of a few bad Nigerian eggs in their country, they should also try to visit Nigeria. The thing you notice in Nigeria is that, the vast majority of Nigerians don’t obsess about other African countries.

When I first came to Nigeria, I used to compare Cameroon and Nigeria a lot.

Then some Nigerians would jump into the comments and say:

“Stop comparing Nigeria with Cameroon.”

“Nigeria should be compared with China or Europe, not Cameroon.” 😂

At the time, I thought they were just being patriotic.

But after traveling through Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, and other parts of Nigeria—and I haven’t even reached Abuja or Lagos yet—I have to admit…

You people were right. 😂

The size, the diversity, the infrastructure, the different cultures, the number of cities, the pace of development… every new state I’ve visited has felt like entering a different country.

As a Cameroonian, this journey has completely changed my perspective. Nigeria is much bigger and more diverse than I imagined before I moved here.

So to those Nigerians who kept telling me, “Don’t compare us with Cameroon,” I can finally say…

I understand what you meant now. 😂🙌

I’m still exploring, and I know there are many more states to visit, but this journey has taught me that you can only truly understand a country after you’ve experienced it for yourself.
