Desiree Davis once toured the world with Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Usher. Now cancer-free after battling breast cancer twice, she has graduated summa cum laude from UH and is preparing for her next chapter as a sixth-grade science teacher. 🎓
The newest UH class rings have earned the cougars’ seal of approval! 😺
As part of a UH tradition, the rings spent time in the care of Shasta VII and Louie at the Houston Zoo before being presented at the spring 2026 Ring Ceremony.
UH and DHR Health have broken ground on a new medical research and education hub in the Rio Grande Valley to expand health education, advance research and improve access to care in one of Texas’ most rapidly growing regions.

There is also a full-circle element to this project: Much of the construction team is made up of UH graduates, including some who once took construction management classes in the very building they are now helping replace! 🦺
The Technology Annex is coming down, but part of its story will live on. First occupied in 1941, the building helped serve generations of UH students. Now, the site is being cleared for the University of Houston’s new Innovation Hub.
Even as the old building comes down, pieces of it will remain part of the future. Some of the Technology Annex’s limestone was reclaimed to be reused in construction of the Innovation Hub.
Haleh Ardebili has been named a Guggenheim Fellow, one of the world’s most prestigious honors for scholars in the arts, sciences and humanities. She is the University of Houston’s 20th Guggenheim Fellow.
