We also see Ukrainian children refugees now competing for their host countries: Vladyslav Husynin for Germany, Vitalii Halushko for Ireland and others.
Bogdan Rublyov:
The 66th IMO is over. A wonderful performance by our students: 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
Unfortunately, this bright event was marred by the actions of the IMO leadership, who from next year have invited the aggressor countries
To some this might not seem like a big issue “oh, let the kids compete.” But such steps normalize ruzzian presence in the world and move towards “business as usual”, “something is happening far away” mentality. These erode western support and other forms of resistance.
russia and north korea for unrestricted participation with their flags. Invitation to the taliban must be next.
Despite everything — we congratulate our talented children. We thank the AFU and our people, who heroically defend our country.
GLORY TO UKRAINE! UKRAINE WILL PREVAIL!
The surreal world of mathematics establishment. The IMU president gives an inspiring speech at the Ukraine Algebra Conference. A few days later he travels to a congress in Beijing and receives a prize from the hands of a well-known russist and invasion apologist. Disgusting.
Ukrainians clear severely damaged Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa after a Russian missile strike. Founded in 1794; destroyed on Stalin’s order in 1936; rebuilt under independent Ukraine in 1999; hit by a Russian missile on Putin’s order in 2023. #ClearUNSCandUNESCOofRussia
Volodymyr Drinfeld: "Organizing the conference despite the war demonstrates the resilience and support that Ukraine receives from mathematicians from all over the world. Mathematics is about truth and beauty. Truth and beauty are especially important in such a difficult time."
KNU: UA Algebra conference was a great success.
Yurii Drozd: "None of the 13 previous conferences attracted so many participants. I am proud to be part of this international community. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the worldwide solidarity of scientists!"

Ukrainian IMO team arrived in Japan.
Bogdan Rublyov: We are already in Japan, a very hard and long road: Kyiv - Helm - Warsaw (and for some, it started in Kharkiv) or England - Warsaw. Then Warsaw - Dubai - Tokyo.
Kadets: The word “politics” somehow bothers me in this context. Shelling of residential areas, killing, robbing, and abusing people are crimes. The attitude towards this is also not a political choice, but a choice between complicity in crime and taming criminals.

V. Kadets: From the first days of the full-scale war, I personally felt the support of the mathematical community.
We have an urgent need for 15–20 laptops and corresponding power banks for teachers and students. We also would be grateful if we could get a license package for one of the latest versions of Maple (online and desktop versions). @maplesoft
