Every single day brings new reports of sexual violence - against women, children, and khwaja siras. Every single day. And every single day, the response is the same - outrage, silence, repeat. Extra-judicial killings are not a solution. They are a performance. They do not dismantle patriarchal violence, they sidestep accountability while handing unchecked power to a police force that is itself implicated in cases of sexual violence. You cannot end a systemic crisis with tools that are part of the system causing it.

What we need is a National Assembly emergency session dedicated to developing a serious, funded, medium-to-long-term national plan to end patriarchal violence. One that addresses root causes: impunity, institutional failure, the normalisation of violence against women and gender minorities. These are not isolated incidents. This is a pattern which is widespread, it is structural, and it demands a structural response. The women of this country deserve dignified lives. That is not a demand, it is literally the bare minimum.

The people of Pakistan will never accept any coercive attempt to legitimise and legalise Israel’s occupation of Jerusalem. Palestine belongs entirely to the Palestinians, and Jerusalem is its capital. Israel is an illegitimate state. This was the firm position of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and it is, and will remain, the position of every Pakistani.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should clearly announce the rejection of Trump’s illegitimate demand.

This was the last text I ever received from my 34 year old Son, Edward. It was exactly a year ago today.

Within hours he was gone. He decided he wasn't "OK" and he took his own life just after midnight.

He was fighting on many fronts- Relationship problems, financial worry and issues with self esteem.

I think about him 100 times a day. I'd do anything to get him back, even if it was just for 5 minutes.

I'd say all the things to him that I didn't say when I had the opportunity. It's too late now.

Please take care of your loved ones. Watch over them. Many are struggling. Many are thinking dark thoughts. Many will take the decision to end their own suffering.
