Not just two legends who competed in the same era, but two friends who witnessed each other’s journey from struggle to superstardom. ❤️🔥
They didn’t let rivalry define their relationship.
They made friendship bigger than rivalry. 👑🤝
Kamal-Rajini is in a league of its own.
One elevated the art of acting.
The other redefined BO superstardom.
Decades of fan rivalry never became personal hatred or vengeance. Two giants who rose together, ruled differently, & respected each other till the end.

Before “PAN-INDIA” became a marketing term.
Before #Baahubali. Before #2PointO Before #KGF. Before #RRR. Before #Pushpa.
There was KAMAL HAASAN🔥🇮🇳
If we are talking about the modern era, Kamal Haasan has arguably the strongest claim to being India’s first and biggest Pan-Indian superstar, not because of one film, but because he broke language barriers across virtually every major film industry in the country.
🎬 Tamil Cinema — List goes onnnn
🎬 Telugu Cinema — Maro Charitra, Aakali Rajyam, Sagara Sangamam, Indrudu Chandrudu
🎬 Malayalam Cinema — Kanyakumari, Eeta
🎬 Hindi Cinema — Ek Duuje Ke Liye, Sanam Teri Kasam, Saagar, Sadma, Chachi 420, Appu Raja
🎬 Kannada Cinema — Pushpaka Vimana
And this wasn’t just about appearing in different languages.
He WON.
🏆 Filmfare Best Actor in 5 different languages
🏆 18 Best Actor Filmfare Awards
🏆 4 National Awards
🏆 Worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi & Kannada
🏆 More than two dozen bilingual/multilingual films across his career
Then came the film that changed everything:
🔥 EK DUUJE KE LIYE (1981)
A Telugu story - Maro Charitra - remade in Hindi by K. Balachander, with Kamal retained as the lead.
A South Indian actor walked into the Hindi film industry and became a Hindi superstar.
The film became one of the biggest-grossing films of 1981, and contemporary India Today described Kamal as having “stormed” Bombay and elevated himself to superstar status on the strength of that ONE film.
And Kamal didn’t stop there.
He went on to give Hindi audiences films like Appu Raja (Apoorva Sagotharargal, Saagar and Sadma, while simultaneously dominating Tamil and Telugu cinema.
Then in the 1990s, he went one step further.
He didn’t just CROSS OVER.
HE TOOK HIS CINEMA ACROSS INDIA.
🇮🇳 Indian → Hindustani
🇮🇳 Avvai Shanmughi → Chachi 420
🇮🇳 Abhay
🇮🇳 Hey Ram
🇮🇳 Vishwaroopam
Different languages. Different markets. Different audiences.
ONE ACTOR.
And that’s why calling #KamalHaasan merely a “South Indian actor who worked in Bollywood” is an enormous understatement.
He was already a star in multiple South Indian industries before Hindi cinema embraced him, and eventually became one of the rare actors whose achievements could be measured across 5 major Indian languages.
Today we call it PAN-INDIA.
Kamal Haasan was doing it decades before the word became fashionable. 🔥
The Pan-India phenomenon didn’t begin with the terminology.
The terminology came much later.
Ulaganayagan was already there. 🫡🔥🇮🇳
