@FootballCliches@CDEccleshare@D_C_W Quite neat that the two players involved in the Scottish dreamland incident were Shankland and Butland. Is there a decent XI out there of players whose surnames end in -land?
@FootballCliches@D_C_W@NickMiller79 Can’t see anyone else has pointed this out yet (I’m not on Reddit!) but Daisy Christodoulou went quite deep into football-clubs-as-supermarkets on this episode of the Togo podcast towards the end of last year. Not that that means it didn’t deserve the full Clichés treatment!
@FootballCliches what does the Athletic’s style guide say about confidant/confidante? Seemed to be consistent use of the former recently for male examples, but Steve Madeley’s Pereira piece today is back to confidante! All we ask is consistency
@josephpickard@ohasm1@RS_Moule That’s real bad luck, I hit a pheasant today and it got stuck and was making clunking noises, good hard brake application cleared it out 😬
@geoguessr are the iOS app and the browser game essentially two different games now? I pay £2.99/mo but if I want to play in a browser it tells me I have a free account and I need to upgrade. And I’m pretty sure I lost all my stats at some point too. Is this right?
@NickMiller79@TheAthleticFC Really good piece Nick - why would be involved in Rugby League mean that Bass liked the name ‘premiership’? Clearer separation of brands (i.e. keeping the word ‘league’ out of the football entirely)?
@FootballCliches Sure I remember it being covered on the pod but can’t remember the outcome, what was the verdict on whether you can refer to a final defeat as an ‘elimination’ as Jack does?
