For my colleagues who are going to Lagos to write their Part One exams, those going to Ibadan, and those posted to Abuja for their Part Two fellowship exams, many of them are already booking hotels for where they will stay. And honestly, some of these hotel prices are quite expensive.
Someone will tell you to pay โฆ350,000, โฆ500,000 or even more for just 8 days in a hotel.
And at the end of the day, they ask themselves : do these people care that you are a doctor?
Do they care that you are travelling for an examination to become a consultant? They don't care.
They will charge you whatever they want and treat you according to their business policies.
This is a lesson for everybody to learn. People are already clamouring, shouting and screaming that everything is expensive, but the hotel owners don't care. That is how medicine is too. Nobody cares about you simply because you are a doctor.
So, when you are offering all those free consultations and patients come to you saying they don't have money, remember this lesson.
Do your job professionally and give your patients the best care you can, but understand that medicine is also a profession and a business.
Don't destroy yourself financially trying to carry everybody's burden.
Nobody is looking at you and saying, "These doctors are preparing for their exams to become consultants; let's give them a discount." Nothing like that.
Let this be a lesson for everybody.
@DrNeilStone What makes it even more interesting is that Huntington's disease shows a genetic anticipation. A phenomenon where there is increased severity and early onset of the disease in successive generations
When Abu Bilal built a secret wall in his home to protect his precious books from Syriaโs former Assad regime, he didnโt know if heโd see them again.
15 years later, with the help of a hammer, he was able to recover them.
@RAWMAGAMILK@POkatureIfy@TouchlineX What do you mean it is not a logical statement? The player with most assists in French national team history saying he is not selfish sounds perfectly logical to me
We (Nigerians) have a culture that believes in organ harvesting for sale... It's very difficult to harvest a kidney... A general surgeon cannot harvest a kidney; only a specialist can. People think that they harvest kidneys and transport them out for sale, but there is nothing like that ... both the donor and the receiver will have to be in the same theatre.
The team that harvests the kidney is different from the team that will transplant because if you keep the kidney for some time, it dies off. There is a difference between kidney trafficking and kidney donation.
