For three years, we have been building a new life here. We couldn’t sleep for months because of the fear of earthquakes; we arrived in Canada emotionally exhausted but full of hope. And now, we are facing the risk of being sent back.

Thousands of families from Türkiye rebuilt their lives because of the pathway you championed.

Today, under the new @MarkJCarney government, we respectfully call on you once again:

🔁 Extend TS2023 for 3 more years.

Because:
• 🏗️ TS2023 workers are contributing across key sectors.
• 🧒 Their children are fully integrated in Canadian schools.
• 🏠 Families have established homes, stability, and community ties.
• 🤝 Ending the program now would disrupt families and the communities relying on them.

I still remember when Lena called me after carrying our petition to the House of Commons. I conveyed our community’s gratitude, and she spoke with pride about being the one to initiate this support.

And I was with Sean Fraser in Mississauga when he announced TS2023 on March 18, 2023. He gave far more than we expected, and I witnessed firsthand his sincerity and willingness to help people in their moment of greatest need.

I understand that Minister Diab’s current mandate is to reduce the number of temporary residents in Canada.

But TS2023 is different: it is a humanitarian measure born from an extraordinary crisis. Because she helped create it from the beginning, she carries a unique responsibility to ensure these families are not swept into broad reductions that were never meant for them.

Canada has granted PR to hundreds of thousands of people through dozens of temporary programs throughout its history. Special programs for agricultural workers, caregivers, pilots, temporary workers… Each of these groups had clear pathways, and tens of thousands became permanent residents.

So why is there still no clear pathway for TS2023 earthquake survivors, who were invited to this country under the same logic and humanitarian framework?

We are simply asking for an answer:
Is this a transparent process?

For a strong country like Canada, finding a clear solution for such a small community should not be difficult.

We understand Canadians.
No one should be harmed by this process neither us nor Canadians. As TS2023, we are grateful for the helping hand Canada extended to us after the earthquake. We came here, we worked, we paid taxes, and we started rebuilding our lives. We never received even a single dollar of government assistance; we all spent the savings we brought with us. However, the uncertainties within the immigration system are now negatively affecting both us and public perception.

As thousands of people invited through a temporary measure, our only request is a fair, transparent, and predictable process. Our lives should not remain in limbo because of a “system gap” or “political delay.”
Justice and transparency are for everyone.
