The club have spent over £21m on the managerial change. Around £10.4m on Erik ten Hag and his staff, and around £11m on Sporting to bring in Ruben Amorim and his staff, according to the latest financial results published in full on Wednesday night.

🚨 Exclusive: Manchester United have won the race to sign top U15 grassroots midfielder Emmanuel Ziro from Cre8tive Football Academy beating off interest from Arsenal and Chelsea 💥
🚨 Manchester United were among the clubs scouting Swedish side IF Elfsborg, as they eye players from the club and potentially the manager. Their 32-year-old manager Oscar Hiljemark is likely to be on the radar of bigger sides after leading them to success in the league, then Europa League qualifying and a win over Roma. #MUFC [@Aftonbladet via @Sport_Witness]
Before the media inflate the figures, let it be known that Man Utd are signing Matthijs de Ligt AND Noussair Mazraoui for a combined €60m + €10m fee (£51m + £8m).
Really good business from INEOS.
#MUFC are confident they will win the race for Chido Obi Martin. He apparently wants to stay in England, not move to Germany. #SGE and #BVB are also interested in the talent. But no decision has been made yet.

🔺Real paying Mbappe a £120m sign on fee show why it’s just very misleading to look at transfer fees only when its evaluated how “expensive” a squad is, as the cost for Real to get Mbappe would be marked as £nil.
🔺The average cost per year for signing Rasmus Højlund for £64m to a 5 year 75k a week contract is £16.7m. This is also how the cost is recorded in the books, ie at £16.7m per season.
The average cost per year for signing Jadon Sancho for £72.9m to a 5 year 350k a week contract is £32.78m. I.e. almost double the cost of Rasmus, while the transfer fees are comparable.
The average cost per year for City to sign Erling Haaland for £60m to a 5 year 550k a week contract is NOT £40m which one might think — but at least £56m in a non treble winning season and reportedly around £70m in a treble winning season and somewhere underwent 56-70m per year when big titles are won, ie 570% of Rasmus Højlund’s cost. Still, if we only look at transfer fees, Højlund is more “expensive” than both Haaland and Mbappe.
MUFC was rumored to be interested in Adrien Rabbiot on a “free” transfer. Rabiot wanted a 10m sign-on bonus and to make 10m — net — in wages, which equals app. £307k in wages. The average yearly cost of signing Rabbiot “for free” would have been 18.7m, which is more than Højlund’s avg costs per year.
Another example is Andre Onana, who after a £45m transfer fee and a 100k a week wage has an avg yearly cost of £14.2m, ie he is also cheaper than Rabiot on a free would have been.
Casemiro, Varane and Antony are all expensive signings, with an average yearly cost of 30m, 28m and 26m respectively.
🔺Why do I think this is important to point out? We have already begun to ‘cut costs’ significantly at MUFC. This at a time while our rivals rapidly are increasing their cost. When we look at the transfer fees paid under ETH, it could look like we are spending as much as our rivals, but in terms of actual costs we are — way — behind City and Chelsea, behind Arsenal and not far ahead of Liverpool.
We must for sure do more clever business going forward. But it is just incorrect to think that we currently have an expensive squad in relation to our rivals or that we have spent more than our rivals the last seasons. If we are to compete with City and Arsenal, investments must be made in the squad.
You can't trust Utd briefs on Sancho (or anything for that matter). When they first tried to sign him they were told in June by Dortmund that there was no chance of a deal happening that summer so the media team devised a strategy to lie to the media that they were still in for him up until the last week of the window then go for someone else. Reminded me a lot of the De Jong strategy or when lied to Mourinho telling him they were in for Alderweireld when they weren't, Levy offered him to Utd the day before the window closed and they said no....
Joel Glazer also refused to sign Thiago Alcantara despite his agent pleading with them to do so and the fact OGS wanted him, Joel didn't want to give him a 4 year contract due to his age. Joel passed on Skrinair too when he was offered that summer.
Decision to postpone PL/EFL games is daft enough but not as bad as the decision to cancel grassroots football. Kids have missed enough sport through Covid, it’s great weather but will soon turn & games will be cancelled & big missed opportunity for football at all levels to unite
