@madebygoogle Thx for your reply. But I had already noticed. What we mean by 'ambient display' is the dimmed, minimal b&w display. Now we can only use that with the 'always on' option.
In Android 9 we had the option to use it with the 'check phone' gesture (i.e.picking it up from a table).1/2
