My wife sent me this off-guard picture, and it hit me different.

I love putting my son inside my white beater, skin to skin, letting him hear his father’s heart. Sometimes it beats calm, and sometimes it races…because I’m still nervous. I’m still trying to understand that I’m holding a reflection of me. A whole life that came from me. An answered prayer laying on my chest.

Then I looked at this picture and realized one thing…this is what I worked for.

Not so my son could repeat my story… but so he would never have to.

NICOLE LINTON TRIAL: Nicole Linton, a traveling nurse, is on trial for six counts of murder after prosecutors say she blew through a red light at 130 mph in 2022, causing a fiery nine-car pileup at the intersection of La Brea and Slauson avenues in Windsor Hills, a community about 10 miles southwest of downtown LA.

Linton was originally also charged with five counts of vehicular manslaughter, but prosecutors dropped those charges last month. She has pleaded not guilty.

During opening statements, prosecutors said the impact was so violent it threw 11-month-old Alonzo Quintero from the car. He landed at a stranger's feet outside a nearby gas station. His mother, Asherey Ryan, was eight and a half months pregnant and died in the crash alongside him and her boyfriend, Reynold Lester. The force of the collision tore Ryan's unborn son, Armani, from her womb.

Jurors saw video of the baby lying in the street, still attached by the umbilical cord. Two women in another car, 43-year-old Nathesia Lewis and 38-year-old Lynette Noble, also died when the impact triggered a fiery wreckage.

Prosecutors also allege Linton faked a seizure after the crash. Their theory: she left work furious that day and took it out on the road, which is why six people are dead.

Linton's defense says none of that adds up. They claim she wasn't drunk, wasn't on drugs, wasn't on her phone, and wasn't racing anyone. Instead, they say she suffered a sudden medical emergency, a seizure, and had no control over the car in the moments before impact.

If convicted on all six counts, Linton faces 90 years to life in prison. The trial is expected to last at least six weeks. There are no cameras allowed inside the courtroom, but The Docket Diva is out here digging through the internet so you don't have to.
