@AlbertaLeonidas I’m saying they’re able to.
If Smith is wanting to stay in office she knows not calling a second referendum before a provincial vote will oust her.
Also, after a separation victory from the 1st one, the international noise about AB separation will be deafening
@AlbertaLeonidas That’s wrong.
They can’t get one under the Citizen Initiative Act 12 months on either side of a provincial election.
That’s the first referendum in October. When that passes the second referendum is AB gov’t setting a ref, not under the CI, and there’s no limitation on AB govt
@Nuni_Sas_Yu It’ll be a state; anyone with any amount of logical honesty knows this. You don’t have to even consider it that long. Just for a minute without your Canadian anti-American programming.
@cnm5000@AmericaPapaBear Yeah I read it. The filibuster probably is about to get busted for the SAVE Act, which means only a simple majority is needed.
Not a great argument.
I’m not telling you a projection.
It’s already happened.
@cnm5000@AmericaPapaBear It will absolute be the 51st state. Albertans aren’t engaged with it, but its vote to separate will be successful and then ignored by the feds. Which will then see Trumps deal from Jan ‘24 disclosed and usher AB into statehood as its only out from Canada
@Rod85928236@SaltyGoat17 They’ll vote to separate. Federal Canada won’t negotiate. Trump will step in with a deal for statehood that albertans can’t refuse.
Gonna happen remember this when it does.
@LaurenT01462661@justicecometh@DcLidstone Alberta is voting to separate from Canada Oct 19
It will be successful which legally should force its federal gov’t to negotiate exit, however, feds won’t abide
This’ll trigger deal AB premier made with Trump for statehood in Jan ‘24 forcing feds to negotiate with US for AB
