They can’t get one under the Citizen Initiative Act 12 months on either side of a provincial election.

That’s the first referendum in October. When that passes the second referendum is AB gov’t setting a ref, not under the CI, and there’s no limitation on AB govt

It will be successful which legally should force its federal gov’t to negotiate exit, however, feds won’t abide

This’ll trigger deal AB premier made with Trump for statehood in Jan ‘24 forcing feds to negotiate with US for AB
