630KG DAGGA SEIZED AT OSHOEK BORDER:

A suspect has been arrested after police intercepted a Volvo truck carrying 49 bags containing about 630kg of suspected dagga, worth more than R4 million, at the Oshoek Port of Entry in Mpumalanga.

The truck was searched at about 01:30 on Monday, 17 August, after entering South Africa from Eswatini.

The suspect is detained at Hartebeeskop SAPS and is expected to appear in court on a charge of dealing in dagga.

Police are investigating the origin and intended destination of the consignment and possible links to a wider drug network.
