If a group of people being mean to you on Twitter makes you discard all your values, you never believed in those values to begin with. Be honest with yourself.
@4570vibecheck@DudespostingWs Not to mention starter going out doesn’t have to mean it’s completely gone. I’ve had plenty of times where a starter would be on its last leg and still able to start one out of ten times or similar.
@DemetriusZhomir@kuberdenis Was going to say this. I have to remember to go in and check for new models every so often or my team ends up in the same place.
@benjamincrozat I usually search if I already know the answer but need to check the docs for something like syntax or similar. Sometimes I search if the idea is complex and it will be faster for me to type in a few keywords instead of trying to formulate a complete thought.
@PovilasKorop I prefer A but tend towards B because I have a few novice devs that tend to get lost with less verbosity. This alone (probably) wouldn’t throw them off, but it accumulates since they’re still learning their way around.
@kenwheeler Basically, make database, use h265 as an archive/compression. Fun/clever idea, not really usable beyond a few people or documents before you’re thrashing your disk to hell and back.
@benjamincrozat I mean, if delivering value is the only litmus test, then no. Plenty of non-developers can deliver value through code using AI.
I get where you’re going with this, but I think there’s some lost nuance.
@kenwheeler I mean, I would argue that faster/cheaper/more efficient is meaningful, but yeah, people need to realize that it’s going to plateau for a while barring any breakthroughs.
@SwapAgarwal@uxsaransh That implies that the three years experience is in incremental software. There are a lot of shops that don’t have a real need for that sort of versioning. Would I be surprised? Sure, but not to any crazy extent.
@jeffrey_way@PovilasKorop I’m just always worried a junior is going to miss the big red signs and go off the deep end. Plain text passwords in database, etc. But yeah, we’re not in disagreement at all.
@jeffrey_way@PovilasKorop There’s a roll your own auth joke in there somewhere.
But yeah, agreed, as long as someone has time to guide them and keep them from doing something too crazy.
@Jk91185408@bradford_hardin@moseskagan@nikitabier It doesn’t have to be ratified, but Congress is allowed to terminate via joint resolution. The problem is that the President has to sign the resolution in order for it to go into effect, so it can be vetoed or outright ignored. (From my understanding, not a lawyer, etc.)
@slimjimmy The only real argument I see that it is a code smell is that I can’t trust that every dev on the project won’t just throw everything into utils and turn it into a crawling horror. That’s indicative of a larger problem though, so probably not a solid argument.
