They/Them
@armadajosh It's games in general, but because it's me I'll probably make TTRPGs for some it.
The research aim is to investigate a theory-driven process for designing games about folkloric or magical world views.
@capacle Thanks, it's going to be a lot, but it's kinda the result of a lot of experiments and explorations into how we design games. Currently the terrifying thing is familiarizing myself with all the scholarship on the anthropology/history side!
@will_jobst Quote sheet compiler - for funny stuff, as opposed to the note taker.
Sometimes it's useful for someone to take on the job of keeping the party on track and focused.
@Juncetera I haven't been keeping up with Super Sentai too much recently (wasn't a fan of Zenkaiger) but the bits of Donbrothers and King-Ohger I've seen were interesting twists on the formula which were nice to see.
I wonder how/if that will translate.
Bonus part four:
Would I recommend people do something like #Ludomachy to get out of the space (in various senses) they usually do #GameDesign in?
Absolutely.
Would I recommend people develop a game design show and do it at the Fringe for three weeks?
Probably not.
It's a lot.
Had a bit of time since #EdFringe2023 to relax and recover (not really, but let's pretend), and to have a bit of a reflect.
The show went a lot better this year - I felt myself connecting to the audience far better, which made me have to work less hard. 1/3
Because I'd laid that groundwork I could concentrate on the game we were making, though still looking to improve my skills.
Last year burnt me out, in the 11 months between runs I only managed to design half a game...
After this year I feel reenergised to make things.
