A 17-year-old student was raped and left to die at a hospital. A girl was killed by her cousin for using a mobile phone. A woman was killed by her own husband for denying him sex. A doctor had acid thrown on her by a lift operator. All of this happened within a single week.
Girl to girl: be that girl again.
Get disciplined again. Take care of yourself again. Eat better & move your body again. Oil your edges & drink your water again. Start praying & reading your Bible again. Get your money up and sleep 8 hours again. Find your spark and put yourself first.
If someone at work tries to micromanage you, micromanage them back.
Send them too much feedback, ask them a lot of questions, do follow ups when they go quiet or even when you know they are busy don’t let them rest.
when you’re younger and dating you might not notice it, but as you get older you start realizing how important curiosity is. someone not asking questions, not wanting to know you… is an instant ick.
Normalize not forcing your importance in someone's life. Let people do what they want so you can see what they'd rather do. If someone doesn't see the value in having you by their side, don’t try to convince them.
When in a relationship understand that you were both raised differently, which means you love differently, react differently and communicate differently, the important part is that you both respect each other's differences and try to understand where one another is coming from.
