"I'm really proud of us winning, but had we held onto those three drops (interceptions), we could have put the game away much earlier. And we need to punch the ball in more than settle for field goals. I stressed to the guys about needing to make the plays when they are there," Kilam on @sports1440. #CFL #Elks
For all the #LetsGoOilers fans who are upset about the Mike Babcock news, the Elks season is in full swing so go check out the work we do at @Elksnationdotca and shift your focus to something a little more positive 🤷♂️ #GoElks#FootballSzn
Bad news for Elks.
Look for OL Coutler Woodmansey to go on 6-game IL.
They could move Beard to guard or change the ratio and activate American Cameron Carter to play right guard. EE have lots of starting Canadians so playing Carter at guard wouldn't be difficult. #Elks#CFL
My 1 minute (ish) recap of week 1 in the CFL. Awesome slate of games with exciting finishes. Some high level ball being played! If you’re in the states and looking for some ball to watch this summer, tap in with the CFL!
In rain game, the #Elks did a couple of things very well. First, they held on to the ball for 35:20. The second was not turning the ball over. The offence left plenty of points on the field but played a cleaner brand of football.
I'm sure the offence will get better and multiple threats will emerge. Justin Rankin is still the number one threat and wore the Superman cape again.
Defense forcing four turnovers played a key role as well. Nick Anderson missed a quarter-and-a-half with a nasty finger dislocation and still led the team in tackles (7) and defensive plays (8). Malik Carney showed why he's a menace at the edge spot.
Vincent Blanchard did what he needed to do. Javon Leake with 155 combined return yards. Young special teams unit came up big in the fourth quarter.
There's a lot to fix with assignment, execution, and penalites. Elks can finally say they won a season-opener which is a huge monkey off of their back.
We will see if the bye week can produce some good health for the team for their season-opener on June 20. #CFL
#Elks Vincent Blanchard with 17 pts last night against Ott.
It was his career high.
Only 2398 more points to catch Sean Fleming on EE All-Time list (or just over 141 more 17 pt games)
