The Arch of Titus in Rome commemorates the Roman victory in the First Jewish Roman War, especially the capture and destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70.

The arch was constructed around AD 81, after Titus’ death, under his brother and successor Domitian. It therefore celebrated both Titus’ victory and his elevation to divine status after death. It is not merely a general military monument , but it presents Rome’s conquest of Jerusalem as a triumph of the emperor and the Roman gods.
