There was this brother that wanted to marry me

He told me his intentions

Such a good man

Soooooooo nice. And this was not him pretending

This was actually a genuinely good man

He said all the right things. Really lovely child of God

Here’s where the problem was. I did not like him back.

I don’t know why. I really wanted to. Because honestly this is the kind of man that you know would just make your life happy.

I wanted to settle down. But I could not like him as a husband.

I tried really hard. I even prayed to God to fill my heart with love for him. Sometimes I would look at his pictures again and again. Just so that maybe something can spring up in my heart

I knew that if I married this man, it would be out of pity. It would not be because i really cared about him like that and felt blessed by God

I would just do it as a favour

And so I had to turn him down. I didn’t feel any leading from God whatsoever.

And that’s when the Holyspirit rebuked me.

That man was too precious a child of God for me to marry out of pity.
He was too special for me to feel like I was helping him

I’m sharing this story because someone sent me a message

“Sister Debbie, there’s this brother that wants to marry me. I don’t like him like that. Infact if I’m being honest, thinking about him as a husband is irritating. But he’s a good person. Maybe I should just pity him and marry him”

No man deserves to be married just because you pity him

Same goes for a woman

Everybody is precious. There’s someone out there who would feel tremendously blessed to have that person

You think you’re doing the person a favour but if they could see your heart, it would hurt them even more to see that you are even irritated by them.

The rejection may hurt them in the moment, but they will be fine

🤍Some men would start spending money on a woman immediately they make their intentions known. So that they can use gifts and stuff to make her feel indebted. That’s very wrong

🤍Some women will be collecting gifts, allowing someone sponsor you in school and all when you know he’s waiting for you to finish so he can marry you. But you know deep down, you don’t care about this person. That’s wickedness.

Forever is too long to be with someone who doesn’t value you.

To be with someone who doesn’t look to heaven and say “thank you Lord for my spouse”

This brother in my story is happily married now. I’m sure his wife feels like she married the best man in the world

I’m also with my husband. I thank God everyday I didn’t marry anybody else

God will settle his children one after the other

Before you say yes to someone, please be sure it’s for the right reasons

Remember, God sees our heart.
