Mock elections in schools present an opportunity to engage young people in voting, building up a voting habit for when they are able to vote in real elections and ensuring high turnout amongst young people.
Email your MP asking them to push for this with the link in our bio! ๐
Only 60% of eligible voters participated in the 2024 general election. Mandatory citizenship education can fix that. ๐
We're likely to see more young people forming a voting habit if we create momentum between citizenship education and getting into the polling booth. ๐ณ๏ธ
1/3 of UK Students are guaranteed to fail their exams under the current exam system. Both of our Under 18s Officers are receiving their GCSE results today, and here they are explaining why we need to change the way we do exams. ๐
Labour is going to lower the voting age to 16, but we need to make sure they also improve citizenship education, make it mandatory up to the age of 18, and hold mandatory mock elections in schools. ๐ณ๏ธ
It's time to make Votes at 16 effective. ๐
Congratulations on finishing your exams! GCSEs and A-Levels are over this year, but the Under 18 Young Greens understand that the exam system is unfair on students and needs change.
๐ณ๏ธ Young people aged 16 and 17 won't be able to vote in the General Election.
๐ Greens would expand voting rights and the right to stand for elected office to 16 and 17 year olds.
๐ข Young Greens Convention will be taking place on the 17th & 18th August!
It's the biggest Young Greens event of the year. We come together to celebrate our work this year, and elected our new Executive Committee.

This first leaders debate is frankly depressing. Two men talking over each other. Not listening, not engaging - just trying to score points. Not offering real change or real hope.
Of course, there is an alternative.

Solidarity with parents and teachers in Brighton and Hove taking action to stop our schools and nurseries being closed - breaking Labour promises, and without properly considering equalities. Iโll be at Hove Town Hall today to support their Qs to cllrs. https://t.co/KeNPt2S4fp
