Mock elections in schools present an opportunity to engage young people in voting, building up a voting habit for when they are able to vote in real elections and ensuring high turnout amongst young people.

Only 60% of eligible voters participated in the 2024 general election. Mandatory citizenship education can fix that. 🎓

We're likely to see more young people forming a voting habit if we create momentum between citizenship education and getting into the polling booth. 🗳️

1/3 of UK Students are guaranteed to fail their exams under the current exam system. Both of our Under 18s Officers are receiving their GCSE results today, and here they are explaining why we need to change the way we do exams. 💚

Labour is going to lower the voting age to 16, but we need to make sure they also improve citizenship education, make it mandatory up to the age of 18, and hold mandatory mock elections in schools. 🗳️
