Christian Bale reveals he was fired from American Psycho after helping get the movie funded… and refused to accept it
“Every scene we were doing, I had the book by my side because Bret Easton Ellis had written such incredible descriptions.”
“When I first auditioned for Mary Harron, I didn’t approach the character like the other actors.”
“I said, ‘None of that really matters. He’s just like this alien.’”
“As we were doing the scene, I started laughing, and she started cracking up.”
“We realized we had the same very sick sense of humor.”
“She had so many well-known actors who wanted the role, but she kept saying, ‘No, I want Christian.’”
“The financiers told her, ‘We’re giving you no money.’”
“So we did a staged reading in New York with Willem Dafoe, Chloë Sevigny, and Bryce Dallas Howard, and eventually we raised the money.”
“But our agents forgot to include us in the package.”
“So after the money came in, they said, ‘Right… and you two, bye-bye.’”
“But I went a little psycho myself.”
“I said, ‘No. I’m still making the film.’”
“Even after other people were cast and other directors came on board, I just kept preparing.”
“My friends thought I’d lost the plot.”
“And then… eventually, it all came back. That felt like a great victory.”
Robert Downey Jr. says he almost turned down Tropic Thunder, but changed his mind after asking himself where his heart really was.
“Ben Stiller called me about it, and I thought, ‘Yeah, I’ll do that after Iron Man.’”
“Then I started thinking, ‘This is a terrible idea.’”
“I had to stop and ask myself, ‘Where is your heart?’”
“Part of it was getting to expose the insane, self-involved hypocrisy of actors and what they think they’re allowed to do.”
“Ben knew exactly what he wanted. Watching him direct was like watching Chaplin or Coppola.”
“It was impossible to make that movie without people thinking it was offensive.”
“But 90% of my Black friends were like, ‘Dude, that was great.’”
A 31-year-old airport security officer in Argentina named Lucía Fernanda Díaz Da Mota was running one of the most calculated dating scams you will ever hear about - she would find men on dating apps, take them out to dinner, go home with them, drug their drinks until they passed out, and walk out the door with their watches, phones, perfume, and luggage.
Security cameras caught her entering an elevator with one victim while kissing him and hours later she is seen leaving alone dragging a suitcase. When investigators raided her home they found luxury watches, men’s cologne, and suitcases believed to belong to multiple victims.
She was arrested at Ezeiza Airport while on psychiatric leave and authorities are now investigating whether she was working alone or part of a larger criminal network.
Dating apps have made it easier than ever for predators to find targets and this is a reminder that no matter how normal someone seems on a screen you truly do not know who you are letting into your life.
Be careful out there.
Never back up. Come for it.

Christian Bale: "In the same way that people were telling me that I can’t play Patrick Bateman and it was career suicide, other people also said 'you know if you play Batman, that’s it.’ I said ‘bring it on. Let’s see how that happens.'"
