@RepDeanPhillips I’m not one to post politically, this is my first. I will say this: If there is a moderate candidate, on either side of the aisle, that is willing to create a moderate majority so the extremes of both parties are neutered, and is not a boomer, they have my vote.
Listening to #theriseandfallofmarshill and am emotional after every episode. Melancholy, withdrawn from family. As a pastor during that time, I was all in for the emergent movement. Now, I’m all out of everything. It is bringing up so much that I can’t articulate.
@davidbazan Just finished Episode 1 of the Who Killed Mars Hill podcast and one of your songs was near the end before the interviews. Thanks for all you write and sing. I am grateful every time I encounter it.
@TheAmberPicota It was the church as the body of Christ. If Jesus hands and feet are what is used to prove Jesus to Thomas, and the church is now the embodiment of that to the world, I just can’t anymore.
@realrobbell If you’re ever in the SF Bay Area, I’d like to buy you lunch. I just rewatched ‘Rhythm’ after 20 years out of Fuller, 15 out of ministry and 10 out of church attendance. l was reminded of how much I appreciate you. Even though I’m an outsider now, thank you.
@Stopsines @kkdumez Parachurch is such an odd word, especially since we are taught young that church isn’t a building, it’s people. Why can’t that group of people just be church? Because parachurch needs to be different but connected to church to siphon funds and volunteers for its business.
@With_Apologies When this was my profession, it was Christmas. How many perspectives can I muster over the years? “Folks, this year we will look at the birth of Christ from the view of the sheep” followed by 40 minutes of me inflecting the word ‘Baa’.
@kevinmnye1 Yes. M.Div from Fuller, youth ministry, senior pastor ministry, now a teacher. The thing is: when you thought you were going to do something your whole life and then you are no longer doing it, it shatters everything. I love teaching, but not a Christian anymore.
@abbynormansays This is such a great tweet. I remember my youth pastor running over a Metallica CD with everyone around and cheering. The epitome of cancel culture is Christianity and it’s “in the world, not of the world” justification.
