Gillum was the Democratic nominee for Governor in Florida in 2018 and lost to Ron DeSantis by less than a percentage point. Since then, he has withdrawn from political life.

PD says he was stopped after driving erratically on Highway 98. Once he pulled over, an officer spotted what appeared to be a glass pipe on the console commonly used for smoking illegal substances.

Gillum was arrested on felony drug possession (methamphetamine) and paraphernalia charges as well as possession of marijuana.
