As some of you know, I've spent the past decade reverse engineering No Man's Sky & rewriting many of its core systems from scratch in assembly & C++. No source code, 16,000+ hours of my time, working inside Hello Games' own engine.
NMS Multiverse (still in development) rewrites major aspects of the game from scratch & fleshes out what the engine was always truly capable of: completely rewritten terrain rendering, 220+ programmable shader effects, solar systems with up to 20 suns, hundreds of new star types, procedural cosmic creatures grown from pure shader math, new game mechanics, a live GUI to reshape the universe in real time & much more!
It also aims to restore the prerelease vision of the game & opens the door to advanced modding the way SKSE did for Skyrim: a plugin framework for systems the base game never shipped with.
This isn't modding; it's engine reconstruction. And no, it's not cancelled... I plan to continue it on the side when I'm not deep in building my own engine & game.
