@iconoclast575 I can imagine some arcade games not being fun to play for score, then that part of the game is not well designed. I don't think 1cc's are casual and scoring is serious, both are equally intuitive and baked into the design. Many arcade games even seem to be designed around 1cc.

@psymage_arcade In the past there was a cultural elite, and the common people most often just tried to copy what they liked. On one hand this creates a lot of pretentiousness, on the other hand this saves the culture from being dominated by the terrible taste of the masses.

@cremieuxrecueil People like to think each animal has a role in nature, but that's not how it works. Animals evolve to inhabit a specific niche in which they can survive in the environment, which is totally disconnected from ecosystem health. A niche existing doesn't make it beneficial.

@CharmVersus To be fair, for someone who is new to both shmups qnd harder games in general, these easy shmupsight be an adequate challenge. However it sometimes feels like too many indie shmups are made for that guy, especially since that guy will get better and then interest in them.

@CharmVersus I'm not a big fan of easy shmups either. I think they shouldn't get much easier than donpachi, otherwise they won't really hold at least my attention for very long

@STG_vega If you're good at action platformers (which I'm not) it might be the case that all bosses are trivially easy, which would make the entire game probably not worth playing. Silksong probably did it better, but I'm not sure.

@STG_vega HK isn't terrible I think, I got lost a bunch because I didn't know where to go. The main meat are the bosses, late platforming sections, and the arena. The iframe dash trivializes some parts. Some of the best parts are optional.
