Daily struggle… Loide Malenge, a resident of Okahandja, says that her son, a Grade 5 learner, could not attend school today, as he does not have school uniform. Instead, he was seen scavenging for items at a dumpsite in the Okahandja Ekunde extensions 4 and 5 with his mother.
WATCH: Learners from the Onakaale combined school in the Ohangwena region helping the cook serve soft porridge to other learners at breakfast. School principal Sanio Mutilifa said the feeding programme keeps the learners in school.

In my busy schedule, yesterday, I got 1hr to speak to learners at Oshimwaku Combined School. At their stage, Education is still the key. I left them with a few cents (N$500 for each top performer in Grade 8&9, & N$100 each for top performer from grade 4-7). The Nghaamwa Legacy.
Africa this is Usko Nghaamwa from Northern Namibia. Over the years he’s spent almost $100 000 building schools, hostels for the poor. His mission; “let the black child learn”. He doesn’t do it for fame thus your Forbes Top 20 list won’t post him. This is an appreciation tweet !!!

It is very disturbing and can cause long-term trauma to a child. It's important such incidents are reported immediately to the authorities so that the child can receive the necessary help and support.
JUST IN: Police in Oshikoto on Saturday arrested a couple from Omuntele Constituency for allegedly abusing and chaining their orphaned nine-year-old granddaughter. Omuntele constituency councilor Sacky Nangula was alerted to the horrific abuse and immediately informed the police.
