Dozens of Organizations, Former Employees Call for a Boycott of the ASU @statepress for silencing Latine columnist Alexia Isais https://t.co/OrPuhxh8Qe
UPDATE: We've gotten a few questions about the @statepress boycott. As of right now, it is still ongoing since all demands have not been met. More to come.
"I have the right to express a violent sentiment towards an inherently violent, oppressive system, and that’s the system of the police. I support the right to fight back against oppressors." https://t.co/A69EBDCtC6
Thank you to those who have donated so far. We've raised $600 for Alexia and have gathered almost 500 signatures. You can donate here or sign the petition in the thread below.

Black Phoenix Organizing Collective strongly supports @comradealexia and joins the boycott of @statepress. Cops do not need defending, nor should they exist. Oppressed People who shine light on that fact should be uplifted, not silenced.

And she was never paid a penny for all the money those views brought in, on top of that, the editors denounce a single individual on their platform. Disgusting. Address the demands. #BoycottStatePress
"This decision was not made based on one belief or one person, it was about the well-being and standards of our entire newsroom." https://t.co/W1Mbcy09rE
@statepress You need to rescind that statement that you all admit can be misconstrued. You are using your publication to attack one individual who was defending herself.
You just fired one of the most bold, risk taking student opinion columnists you have and 2 others resigned. What does this say about your mission statement?
Our Mission: The @StatePress is a bold, risk-taking student-run media organization intent on ethically serving, provoking and challenging a large and changing University audience.

@KellysAFox @mary_gilham @leothecommie Alexia was not a journalism student. She is a political science student specifically hired as an opinion columnist. Consider this when making your judgement.
ASU's campus newspaper fired a columnist in the middle of writing a piece about how leftist and POC voices are silenced on campus, for tweeting abt the rise in anti-police sentiment. Clearly @ASU realy values that "academic freedom". @statepress reinstate her with an apology
