We worked with all 13 Massachusetts United Ways to stand up the United Response Fund and raise $7 million to fight hunger in our state.

It’s November 1, and 42 million Americans are wondering how they’ll feed their families without their SNAP benefits. Organizations like The Salem Pantry are stepping up to help folks bridge the gap.

That’s why I provided $8 million to Massachusetts food banks this month. It’s also why we worked with the United Way to raise more than $2.5 million in one week, money that’s already being distributed to food banks and community partners across the state.

But the heart and soul of these organizations are the hardworking staff and volunteers. For the families they serve, they’re a lifeline — and @MassLtGov and I couldn’t be more grateful for everything they do.

Yesterday we joined the @MassGovernor Administration, EOHLC & @masscdcs to award $13.2M in Community Investment Tax Credits (CITC) to 54 CDCs. Over the past 12 years, United Way has raised $29.7 million for housing & economic development through the CITC.
