even tho i been muslim for 4 years, I still havent been able to give up the individualism that has been programmed into me
its the hardest thing to acc follow in Islam. I never drank or smoke and you can come around other things, but this is just so deep rooted into ppl in ๐บ๐ธ
so many men in my generation just straight up giving up. weak shit. "oh no the gobernment". "oh no wamen". "oh no boss". then sit and play video games for hours every day. they're literally enslaving you and you're just taking it because of some blinking lights on your screen
@acetthetics@poetsandpasta@repelfurb Not just south asians- seems to be almost all of the world bar maybe europeans that default to the american accent
Presume itโs a product of exposure
Hindus lowkey ate with the occupational caste system
U would be much happier if U didnโt strive for more and just accepted/maximised your lot in life
Itโs hard to see this type of somali easy divorce culture and not think the purported influence of hinduism on south asian muslim marriage culture was a good thing
Hot take: Christians invented the boyfriend girlfriend concept because divorce is a sin for them. For Muslims, getting a nikkah should be as simple as how Christians get a gd/bf. Somehow we follow Christian marriage norms more and fornication has become widespread.
everyone i know in their late 20s is having an existential crisis because we skipped our mid 20s in the pandemic. relationships fast-tracked, careers faltered, we lost those core identity-building years and now we feel like 23-year-old brains in bodies approaching 30
People will see your shaggy beard and assume you drive an Uber. If you are a woman dressed in a burqa people will be surprised to hear u do not have aspirations of raising 5 kids in a council house.
Muslims donโt see the irony when they give counter-points from 1000 years ago and pretend everything is rosy.
There are no slave societies and this point is n/a. The display of outward symbols of Islam in fact often are viewed as low-class in โmuslim societiesโ.
You meant this in a different way. But interestingly, in Muslim societies, slave women would be actively discouraged from wearing hijab. So hijab was a symbol of the free-woman.
Ethnic environments are predominantly working class/underclass.. except for sympathies gained through exposure to the white middle class environment, I do not see why a hypothetical ethnic middle class enclave should not be equally homophobic.
Some truth to this, but key to it is the intermingling between class and race:
Ethnic minorities are typically homophobic, so environments they dominate will be.
Let an ethnic enter a white environment, they naturally drop any homophobia as a pragmatic means to seek acceptance.
And yet the muslim does not have the option to commit to pre-marital relationships/hook-ups as their counterparts do, without the hauntings of guilt/shame- zina is a humiliating lifestyle for the muslim. So muslims are left to choose between castration or dishonour..
For a muslim these external pressures exist just as strongly as their non-muslim counterparts- albeit whilst they are more likely to have financial fears their cultures typically stress communal values (though again this is subject to cognitive dissonance)
