1/"Star Trek has always been woke." One of the great lies of the current age. Here's an example of how Trek *wasn't* the far-left propaganda-slop many like to claim.
Original series episode "Devil in the Dark" has human miners being killed by a Horta, a silicon-based critter...
@rdone@OJoelsen What was foolish about the statement? Do you think current borders and political arrangement are actually *permanent?* "For now" is a perfectly honest response. California is part of the USA "for now." Siberia is part of Russia "for now." Alberta is part of Canada "for now."
Well, this sucks. from all appearances the intention was to make *proper* Stargate, not NuStargate along the lines of ruined Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. I wonder if the desire to *not* be woke trash was what caused the suits to nuke it.
EXCLUSIVE: The new "Stargate" TV series has been axed at Amazon.
The show was first announced with a series order in November 2025 and hailed from showrunner Martin Gero, who was a writer on "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate: Atlantis." Sources say Amazon execs were concerned that Gero's take on the series would not have broad appeal beyond the franchise's already dedicated fanbase.

1966 Apollo Applications Program LEM Shelter. More or less stock descent module with an ascent module without the ability to ascend. It would have a habitat better capable of supporting a crew for a week or more. Transport back to lunar orbit would have been via another LEM.
4/ apparently undifferentiated mineral elements, further from a viable organism than, say, a 7-month fetus. And yet everyone recognizes that killing them is not just wrong, it's friggen' genocide. They're CHILDREN.
One might draw parallels to certain modern practices.
3/silicon with some trace elements. When they are finally told that these silicon nodules are in fact eggs, the miners are horrified at what's happened and don't deny it. And what does Kirk say? "You've killed thousands of her children."
CHILDREN.
Those eggs are ...
@RasmusJarlov@jwbarickman@USAmbDenmark So you have no answer, just rabid flailing. Got it.
Does spreading nonsensical panic about phantom American takeovers make you good money? Does it pay in rubles or yuan?
@RasmusJarlov@jwbarickman@USAmbDenmark "the USA government is trying to take Greenland"
Is it? Is it really? The most powerful nation on Earth is trying to take Greenland from a nation with a relatively inconsequential military. So just how is the US doing this? With tweets and memes?
That's not how takeovers work.
@RasmusJarlov@jwbarickman@USAmbDenmark The US is causing Denmark and much of the rest of Europe to at least *consider* manning the hell up and looking to their own defenses, while doing absolutely nothing to harm Denmark or Europe. That's "friend" far more than "enemy."
@RasmusJarlov@USAmbDenmark What do you want to bet that invading military-age males from antagonistic cultures bent on *destroying* Danish culture are treated better in Denmark?
AI slop is getting better and better.
This is worth watching if for no other reason than Eomer's helmet.
Soon enough Amazon's goofy decision to cancel "Stargate" will simply be a footnote as fans make their own Stargate shows, visually indistinguishable from the original.
@PanasonicDX4500 It wasn't Obamas suits that demeaned the Office of the President, it was his policies and decision to back every domestic villain he could at every opportunity.
@neoavatara "Practice my religion as I see fit" is very broad & entirely possible to be constitutionally unprotected. If your religion called for killing apostates or enslaving unbelievers or dumping trash in rivers, that's unprotected.
You'd know that if you were any kind of American.
From 1973, a magazine ad for the Garrett Corporation (avionics manufacturer) showing Robert McCall paintings of the Space Shuttle system as then envisioned. At that point, the basics of the Space Transportation System were worked out, but the details were up in the air.
