Rockwell's "Star Raker," a late-70's airbreather/rocket SSTO meant to haul heavy payloads at high flight rate to support the Solar Power Satellite program. Would it have worked? Hard to say, but this would have been a far better world had we tried.

In this timeline the ET never made it to orbit, sadly. It was cut loose before the Orbiter was in true orbit; the OMS engines circularized it, leaving the ET to smack into the Indian Ocean.

2/ X-20 will be pretty inexpensive... 4 parts. X-20, transition, transtage and an XM-92 abort motor (optional). If it does well, I'd like to do a "landed" configuration w/landing gear, separate flaps, clear canopy, separate hatch, cockpit. Maybe a Titan IIIc as well. We'll see.

2/differences in booster sep motors; art shows 4 nose BSMs in a straight line & 4 tail BSMs in straight vert line. As built the fwd BSMs were a 2X2 square array while aft BSMs were arrayed around the nozzle. Minor difference in thermal tile pattern on Orbiter forward fuselage.
