MMID’s own Dr Corby Fink presented his first MMID seminar as a new faculty member on his developing program on characterizing the immune response against emerging pathogens. His work specializes in very cool imaging techniques, including MRI, in animal models. Great stuff Corby.
MMID postdoc Dr Titus Olukitibi presented his research in establishing assays required for determinjng the role of the cellular immune response in the control of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) among female sex workers from Nairobi Kenya.
MMID’s own Dr Julie Lajoie presented her fascinating research on the role of sex hormones on the immune system and risk of infection or persistence of viral infections such as HIV and HPV with a focus on women as they age into menopause.
MMID postdocs presenter today. Dr Kenneth Omollo (Fowke) shared results from a clinical study in Nairobi on aspirin’s effect of HIV target cells. Dr Sandra Gonzalez (McKinnon) presented the effects of modulating the IL-15 pathway in murine CTLs in HPV. Excellent presentations!
