The Against side wins by gaining six votes, thank you to all our panelists and special thanks to our chair for keeping things civil. This marks the last debate for the semester. Join us for our Christmas dinner next week. Merry Xmas and happy new Year!
The last few highlights included the Against side going back to the idea that “The freer the market, the freer the people” - JC. The For side argues that it’s time for change, this deregulation have hindered the interests of the consumer. Going against austerity.
For side was asked about China’s example of just purchasing a majority stackeholder in companies as well as State Owned enterprises entering the market as a direct competitor, they argue that in terms of majority stackeholder control is the concept of nationalisation.
The For and Against side hitting hard about the Railway, discussing the conditions of which it had since the Thatcherite Era, The Against side argues that it should get more investment so that private companies get more projects. For side says they can do that when they own it
