Free, unfettered law is kryptonite for code publishers.
UpCodes has been defending the right to read and speak the law for almost a decade now.
We reflect here about the many lawsuits we've successfully defended. And the publishers' push in Congress.

Article covering the recent "contentious hearing" this week on the Pro Codes Act by @mlexclusive
After failing in the courts to stop the law being given away for free, publishers are turning to congress to try to get a monopoly over the law itself. 🤢

PRO CODES? More Like No Codes. ➡️ Our joint letter with @ARLnews and other allies analyzes the flaws of the bill - below are quick takeaways on why the legislation goes against American's fundamental rights: https://t.co/qCrhJLVvYm
The Pro Codes Act would give unprecedented control over the laws and standards that protect consumers. @ARL's Katherine Klosek and @Upcodes's Garret Reynolds break down how this bill would restrict access to the law and harm consumers: https://t.co/HwMlJX45tb
@alexisxrivas@jasonc_nc Not being able to even quote the law raises serious Free Speech concerns, which is why freedom of the press organizations are opposing the Pro Codes Act, which aims to allow private ownership of the law.

Check out this excellent new piece on the dangerous PRO CODES bill, published in @techdirt and co-authored by the wonderful Katherine Klosek of @arlpolicy and @upcodes founder Garrett Reynolds.
