THEORY:

While there working on DOGE they let him in on their little “secret” expecting him to join. He refuses and unlike lesser influencing figures they can’t just make him disappear. So they give him a black eye, threaten him, and release him. He stays quiet at the time because he knows he’s in the lions den. Once out in a much safer environment, he goes to work planning on how he can bring this whole thing down!
