Did you know 2024 was the hottest year on record? But even then, the oceans did hit the current temperatures. That can only mean two things. First, 2026 could be even hotter. Secondly, humanity has no choice but to #Adapt2Live.

[António Guterres @antonioguterres]

Biodiversity is the living web that sustains humanity.

Yet, climate chaos, pollution & the relentless exploitation of nature, are pushing the natural world towards breakdown.

This #BiodiversityDay, let's work together to halt & reverse biodiversity loss, so people & nature can flourish together.

UN General Assembly backs historic @CIJ_ICJ's advisory opinion on countries' obligation to protect the environment from greenhouse gas emissions.

The resolution reaffirms that tackling the climate crisis is a legal duty, not just a political choice. https://t.co/dX2ySZQ5MK

POWER UPDATE | The UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to support the International Court of Justice’s landmark climate opinion.

The ruling affirms that countries have legal obligations to address climate change and that states causing significant harm to the climate system could face legal consequences under international law.

While the opinion is not legally binding, it is already reshaping climate litigation and strengthening calls for accountability from major emitters.

For countries across the Global South the vote marks another major step in the fight for climate justice.

At PACAR we believe turning climate adaptation into action means moving from planning to funding. We are pushing for predictable finance so vulnerable communities can turn NAPs into reality on the ground @PowerShftAfrica #adapt2live #PACAR

[Upendo Lyimo @UpendoELyimo]

For Africa, adaptation is food security. GGA indicators must track the resilience of smallholder farmers against droughts, not just total dollars spent. True success means stable crop yields and secure livelihoods @PowerShftAfrica #adapt2live #PACAR

[Upendo Lyimo @UpendoELyimo]

The Belém to Addis Vision is clear: we cannot solve the climate crisis without fixing the debt crisis. We need a transformed multilateral financial system that delivers concessional funding without driving vulnerable nations into deeper debt @PowerShftAfrica #adapt2live #PACAR

[Upendo Lyimo @UpendoELyimo]

The Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) indicators must reflect the African reality. We need metrics that measure actual water security, food sovereignty, and local community resilience. @PowerShftAfrica

WELCOME TO DAY 2 of the 4th annual Pan African Coalition on Adaptation and Resilience (PACAR) in Machakos County, Kenya.

The day has begun with reflections from yesterday’s session, and the overriding message of unity among African adaptation actors, policymakers, and politicians towards a common goal: championing the continent’s adaptation interests.

It’s a packed day today, with discussions centering on:
🔸 Climate #finance and #DebtSustainability
🔸 Resilient infrastructure
🔸 Strategies to identify Africa’s priorities for SB64, COP31, COP32
🔸 Land rights
🔸 Indigenous knowledge

We will also discuss tactics for effective #adaptation campaigning and #communications, before ending the day with a social night and African storytelling.

Follow these conversations and our journey to build a Pan-African platform for collective engagement, learning, and mobilisation towards a more resilient continent.

[United Nations @UN]

2024 was the hottest year on record in the Arab region, where temperatures are rising at twice the global average.

@WMO warns that heatwaves are getting longer and droughts more severe, increasingly disrupting lives and economies.

How do we ask underdeveloped nations to abandon coal while developed ones still burn it?”
Climate justice demands fairness & honest transition pathways.

Climate-sensitive diseases reveal the inequities of our systems.

The burden falls on women & rural communities with least access to water & care.
Equity isn’t optional it’s central to resilience.
