These are the most significant policy changes introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (@officialABAT) since May 2023.

1. Removal of Fuel Subsidy: Reduced government spending and freed funds for development.

2. Foreign Exchange Market Unification: Merged multiple exchange-rate windows into a more market-driven system. Has improved transparency, attracted investment, and reduced arbitrage.

3. Comprehensive Tax Reforms: Reforms aimed at simplifying tax administration, broadening the tax base, and reducing burdens on smaller businesses.

4. Student Loan Scheme (NELFUND): Improved access to higher education for indigent students.

5. Minimum Wage Increase: Increased national minimum wage to reflect current economic realities.

6. Power Sector and Energy Reforms: Efforts to improve electricity generation, transmission, and investment in the power sector to enhance energy supply. FGN is deploying more than seven million smart meters; the largest metering programme in Nigeria’s history ($400M worth of investment).

7. Cabinet and Government Restructuring: Merger and reorganisation of ministries and government agencies to improve efficiency and reduce duplication.

8. Infrastructure Drive: Major investments in roads and transport corridors, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other federal highway projects.

9. Oil and Gas Sector Reforms: Boosting crude oil production, improving refining capacity, combating oil theft, and attracting investment. $5.5 billion upstream oil and gas investments, and $700 million investment prospect across clean cooking and clean mobility value chain.

10. Revenue and Fiscal Reforms: Increased focus on non-oil revenue generation, public finance management, and improving government fiscal sustainability.

These structural reforms have reshaped Nigeria's economic framework.

Although challenging in the short term, the long-term benefits cannot be overstated. This is why millions of Nigerians have vowed that they will re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in January 2027.
