Big thanks to the SC Senate for passing S. 244 โ this is a huge step forward for lawsuit reform in South Carolina! ๐
Over weeks of debate, the Senate made the bill even better โ the way the process should work. This wasnโt about winners and losers โ everyone came to the table and did whatโs best for our state.
โ Bipartisan support (35โ7)
โ Lower costs for businesses AND consumers
โ Protects small businesses, customers, and entire industries
โ Real reform โ not just lip service
The Senate didnโt cave to inappropriate pressure โ they listened, worked hard, and got it done. ๐ช
This is how South Carolina moves forward โ together.
Now the bill moves to the House. Call your House member and ask them to vote YES on S. 244!

Thank you to the SC Senate for getting tort reform done. A wonderful example of leadership, determination, hard work, and collaboration. Great news, South Carolina.
After a lot of hard work, S.244 has passed the SC Senate and now makes its way to the SC House.
This is a huge win for South Carolina and business across the Palmetto State.
We knew the trial lawyers benefits from the status quo and not honest in their campaign against tort reform.
But the quiet part has been shouted from the mountaintop.
Oh my word. Sen. Tom Fernandez just said on the Senate floor that the South Carolina trial lawyers' lobby offered him anywhere between $50,000 and $100,000 to vote against tort reform.
"Let me say the quiet part out loud," he said.
Senate now standing at-ease.
Follow along with today's debate. This bill will be scored for the 2025 Legislative Scorecard.
Tort reform, lawsuit reform, joint and several is vital for continued free market economic freedom in South Carolina.

The same trial lawyers you see on TV and billboards across the state have launched a well-funded campaign aimed at misleading the public, rather than engaging in a fair debate about S.244.
They are the sole beneficiary of maintaining the status quo. https://t.co/ntJoVoTywR
