Inspired by the #overwintering article by William Hesbach in the December issue, deputy editor Richard acquired a Flir infrared attachment for his iPad.
He went out to inspect his colonies yesterday. Of the 20, only one wasn't toasty looking (yellow shows heat). #beekeeping
So-called ‘Killer Bees’ are helping boost the income of poor subsistence farmers in Liberia, one of the poorest countries in the world. It’s great to see a positive story about these fantastically industrious creatures, without the sensational headlines. https://t.co/vlqGpHeZYV
I'm already missing my bees. As soon as the first snow falls across the hills I know I'm going to be seeing a lot less of them. Still, there is plenty of work to do: hives to paint, frames to assemble and jars to label. The life of a #beefarmer is never boring!
Beekeepers these days are obsessed about hive insulation, if only they put a fraction of that time into disease management and treating for varroa mites #badbeekeepers
I don't like thinking about Christmas in November, but without bees we would need to start planning Christmas dinner months in advance. I would have to hand pollinate the Brussels sprouts! https://t.co/22BZad68Hx
Beebombs are proud and committed to not using single use plastic in any of our packaging. Aside our Jute bags, we use recycled, shredded, coffee cups for retail packaging.

@anti_plasticbag Hi Tracey, I never take all the honey from the hive, always leaving them sufficient stores for winter. However, if the hives don't have sufficient food I feed them with a substitute sugar syrup. Leaving honey is always best though!
