SAMBA POLICE ARRESTED ACCUSED INVOLVED IN FIRING INCIDENT AT NH TARORE, BARI BRAHMANA

Samba: September 25, 2026: In a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the recent firing incident on National Highway at Tarore, Bari Brahmana, Samba Police has arrested an accused person wanted in connection with the case.

Acting on specific information regarding the movement of the accused, police teams of Samba Police launched a coordinated operation during patrolling in the jurisdictional area of Police Station Vijaypur. During the operation, the police team successfully arrested accused person namely Harish @Herry S/o Harbans Lal R/o Ranjri district Samba.

The arrested accused Harish @Herry was involved in the recent firing incident on NH at Tarore occurred within the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana and accordingly was wanted in case FIR No.284 /2026 u/s 109 BNS, 3/27 Arms Act of PS Bari Brahmana. The arrest marks an important development in the investigation of the Tarore highway firing case.

3 rusted explosive shells found in J-K's Samba, destroyed safely

Jammu, Sep 24: Three rusted explosive shells were recovered from a forward village in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district and safely destroyed by a bomb disposal squad on Thursday, officials said.

The unexploded ordnance is suspected to have been left behind from cross-border shelling several years ago, they said.

The shells were recovered from Palath village following information provided by locals, officials said, adding that the bomb disposal squad subsequently defused and destroyed them safely.

The J&K Assembly passed a resolution seeking exemption of teachers from the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). Education Minister said the government would take every possible step to uphold the dignity of teachers. Langate MLA Sheikh Khursheed also introduced a Private Member’s Bill seeking mandatory education in government schools for children of all government employees and elected representatives. The Bill was later rejected by the government and subsequently by the members of the House.

Drug Peddler Arrested in Tral; Contraband Substance Recovered

Continuing its efforts to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse, Police in Awantipora arrested a suspected drug peddler during naka checking at Aripal Bridge, Tral.

The accused, identified as Suhail Ahmad Allie S/o Gh Nabi Allie R/o Syeedabad Pastuna, was intercepted and searched. During the search, 50 grams of charas and 300 grams of cannabis powder were recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, FIR No. 106/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Tral, and investigation has been taken up.

Police remain committed to taking firm action against drug trafficking and working towards a drug free society.
