MY HUMBLE RESPONSE TO DISAPPOINTING REMARKS ON IRAN BY MUSHTAQ VEERI SAHAB:
Deeply disappointed by the statement of Mushtaq Ahmd Veeri Sahab on what’s happening in Iran and I will humbly try to explain why.
For Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri Sahb to emphatically suggest that he need not even comment on the killing of innocent Muslims in Iran, on the premise that he will “not be questioned” about his silence on the Day of Judgment is not only morally wrong as a human being but also fundamentally wrong as a Muslim, not to speak of the fact that this comes from a religious scholar.
His position on Iran (rather lack of one) is deeply misaligned with the moral weight that the Holy Quran, the Sunnah, and the Seerah of Prophet ﷺ tells us about. About bearing witness to AND responding to injustice, “at least with your tongue”.
In Surah Nisa (135), the Noble Quran does not only prohibit the injustice of the unjust. It clearly commands believers to stand firmly for justice as witnesses to Allah. “O believers! Stand firm for justice as witnesses for Allah even if it is against yourselves, your parents, or close relatives. Be they rich or poor, Allah is best to ensure their interests. So do not let your desires cause you to deviate from justice. If you distort the testimony or refuse to give it, then know that Allah is certainly All-Aware of what you do!”
In Surah Baqrah’s Verse 283 too, we are warned that for believers to conceal testimony is itself a SIN. “And do not conceal the testimony, for whoever conceals it, their hearts are indeed sinful”.’
This raises a very uncomfortable question I would like to pose to Mushtaq Veeri Sahab. Can deliberate, deafening silence in the face of injustice be somehow considered acceptable, particularly coming from a scholar?
The standard set by our beloved Prophet ﷺ cannot and does not reconcile with such moral withdrawal in these circumstances. Our beloved Prophet ﷺ with the example of his Seerat has taught us that whoever sees an evil must change it with his hand, or at the very least with his tongue, and if unable even then, to AT LEAST reject it in his heart, describing this last as the weakest level of faith, not the most ideal.
As narrated in Sunan al-Nasa’i (Hadith no. 4209), Sunan Abi Dawood (Hadith no. 4344) and Jami’ al-Tirmidhi (Hadith no. 2174), our beloved Prophet tells us “a WORD of truth spoken before a tyrant ruler” is among the HIGHEST forms of struggle.
For Mushtaq Veeri Sahab to then dismiss this religious, spiritual and moral responsibility on Muslims when it comes to Iran as optional is utterly tragic.
The Seerah of the beloved Prophet ﷺ shows us without any doubt that His life never reflected silence in the face of injustice.
Long before Prophethood, Prophet ﷺ participated in ‘Hilf al-Fudul’, an alliance formed to defend the oppressed REGARDLESS of tribal or political affiliation. As narrated in Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal (Hadith no. 1655), Al-Adab al-Mufrad (Hadith no. 567) and also in the Sīrah works of Ibn Ishaq and Ibn Hisham, the Prophet ﷺ referring to ‘Hilf Al-Fudul, said “I witnessed in the house of ‘Abdullah ibn Jud‘an a pact which I would not exchange for the finest wealth, and if I were called to it in Islam, I would respond.”
During the persecution of Muslims in Makkah as well, the Prophet ﷺ did not opt for silence in the face of grave injustices but spoke with clarity against injustice, consoled the victims of injustice, and stood visibly and unambiguously with the oppressed people.
This embodies the Islamic principle that the believers are like one body. If one part suffers, the whole responds. “The example of the believers in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion is like that of a body; when any limb aches, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever.” (Narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari Hadith no. 6011 / 5665 and Sahih Muslim Hadith no. 2586).

A young man used to go regularly to Aishah رضي اللّٰه عنها, asking her
questions, and she would speak to him.
One day, he came to her again to ask, and she said, "My son, have you acted upon what you have heard from me?"
He said, "No, by Allah, my mother."
She said, “𝗠𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂?”

Muslim men ignore the Sunnah of Fasting Monday and Thursday. They ignore the Sunnah of Praying 2 Rakats before Fajr.
They forget that Tahajjud is Sunnah.
The Only Sunnah they Remember is to Marry 4 Wives. And they don’t even treat them Equally.
May Allah swt grant us goodness!

May Allah swt make it easy for such Sisters out there. Ameen
