In just 21 days, between 4 and 25 November 2025, 1,960 Gambians left by sea for the Canary Islands.
The figures are devastating:
1,560 men
224 women
126 minors
A newborn only 7 days old
24 confirmed deaths
Imagine in just November 1,960 Gambians left.
14 young returnees of our @UrrMigrants completed a 5 days business coaching training funded and facilitated by DSIK Gambia. Imparted Knowledge areas: how to start/expand a sustainable and successful business, Concept of entrepreneurship, social responsibility etc.
Out of 140 people's in a boat which capsized in the Mediterranean Sea Ebrima Kebbeh was the only survive. He lost a friend who he started the journey with in that boat. Ebrima was voluntarily supported by @UNmigration to return home and today he own a Taxi motorbike.
Week two of Let's Talk Migration radio talk show. We invited 2 returnees to share their irregular Migration stories with us. Which are so emotional. Mamudou who went out water and food in the desert.

Last week the Migrant Peer Support Group in Upper River Region conducted a drama sensitization on dangers of irregular migration.
They also advocated for precautionary COVID-19 measures and for the social inclusion of migrants in community-based initiatives.

With continued support from IOM Gambia through the Migrants peer support group, our team conducted drama sensitization in Sare Ngai - URR on reintegration of migrant returnees.A returnee shared a life story of their experience of the journey and C19 was also presented to audience
