A brave 16-year-old lifeguard named Ryder risked his own life to save a 10-year-old boy who was swept into massive waves at Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz, California, refusing to let go despite being repeatedly pulled beneath the surf.

Witnesses say the dramatic rescue lasted several minutes, with another lifeguard eventually helping bring the child safely back to shore, where he was treated by paramedics and reunited with his family.
