Week 6 Choice Board Activity (5 of 6):
The COVID pandemic did not have a direct impact on blended learning as an enabler. However due to instructors and students not having sufficient experience with this mode, it may have led to disadvantages in using it (Dahmash, 2020).
Week 6 Choice Board Activity (4 of 6):
In my opinion, blended learning definitely benefits distance learners if coupled with sound instructional design. As it allows for all presence factors to occur as well as mitigating the weaknesses of utilizing either F2F or online alone.
Week 6 Choice Board Activity (3 of 6):
I then did forwards referencing in the citing articles section of the journal and found one relevant article (bottom-right of pic). Per the El-Deghaidy & Nouby reading, blended learning is a function of teacher, cognitive, & social presence
Week 6 Choice Board Activity (2 of 6):
After that, I searched it at Concordia library and reviewed it. Blended learning is defined as a mix of several methods for delivering an optimal learning experience. It is operationalized as utilizing an instructional tech along with F2F.
Week 6 Choice Board Activity (1 of 6):
The Distance Ed enabler I'm looking at is blended learning. I started by conducting backwards referencing in U.S. Dept. of Ed. (2010). I found the following citation: El-Deghaidy and Nouby, 2008.
@MissIngridS R6: I think the following would help:
1- Creating ground rules for discussion and participation
2- Ensuring that people are heard and respected
3- Having a common purpose for coming together and emphasizing that throughout the class

@SolNebula@MissIngridS Haha good analogy from soccer, can't count the number of arguments between Real Madrid and Barcelona fans. I think studying soccer rivalries would help create more best practices for controversial topic 😂. A topic for your thesis perhaps? #ETEC681
@MissIngridS Using qualifiers and speaking precisely without attacking the person would greatly help. Also, giving the students a heads up on the topic can help prepare them for it. #ETEC681
