He had a good season, surprised he's leaving the NHL, but I wonder if he's doing what Ovi will do: go play for your home team for a season before retiring.
This might sound harsh but I hope the way the Caps move forward at the draft/trades/free agency is just to make the team better for the now and long term, and not try to force anything that could be bad for the team for the sake of Ovi.
"I would personally sign off on Ovi being able to use Ozempic and the Russian gas for that World Cup of Hockey."
Whatever it takes, just get Ovi in one last best on best tournament.
Ilya Protas is a massive center who just won AHL rookie of the year, scoring about a point per game, in his D+2 season. He's one of the league's top prospects.
You've gotta wonder, if his big brother's breakout came one year earlier, would he have been drafted higher?
So basically he’s saying he will go full revenge mode, and on the record, reallllly rub it in the faces of Leafs fans, but only if he gets his name on the Stanley Cup.
5 teams that MISSED the 2026 postseason that I think could make the 2027 playoffs 👀🔥
— San Jose Sharks
— Winnipeg Jets
— Florida Panthers
— Toronto Maple Leafs
— Detroit Red Wings

Bedard can’t stop with the Cristall glazing. If Chicago can’t get something done longterm and has to resort to a bridge deal, the power of friendship plays here and he’s a #ALLCAPS player post RFA years.
Connor Bedard shares high praise for Andrew Cristall during Memorial Cup reunion: "One of the best players I've got to play with. He's dominated at every level." https://t.co/1s5AaOYwBO
As a Capitals fan, I don't know how you could possibly root for Carolina in the Cup Final. If Vegas wins,
- Nic Dowd gets a ring
- We still get to claim being the only team to beat Vegas in the Cup Final
- We get to laugh as Mitch Marner wins a Cup in his first year out of TOR
