"وفي البرتغال تعلمت اللغة البرتغالية. وقد كان هدفي من تعلم اللغة في أول الأمر هو التأقلم والإعتماد على النفس في التخاطب بما يكفل لي حل المشاكل اليومية.

ومع مرور الايام اتضح لي أن المسلمين البرتغاليين ينطقون القرآن نطقًا خاطئا. وبدراسة المشكلة اتضح لي أن كتابة القرآن بالحروف البرتغالية يشوبه الكثير من القصور، لأن هناك أصوات في اللغة العربية لا يوجد لها مثيل في اللغة البرتغالية.

ولكي أتغلب على هذه المشكلة ادخلت 16 حرفا جديدا على الحروف الأبجدية البرتغالية وأصدرت كتابا أسميته (كتابة اللغة العربية بالحروف البرتغالية) (Fonética arabe Com Letras Portuguesas) ولم يكن هذا الكتاب إلا مدخلا للعمل الكبير الذي كنت أنوي عمله وهو كتابة القرآن الكريم بالحروف الأبجدية البرتغالية.

وقبل أن أغادر البرتغال في يونيو 1978 كنت قد اصدرت الجزء الثلاثين من القرآن الكريم بالحروف الأبجدية البرتغالية."
