What Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, Deputy EC Chairperson (Corporate Services), wrote on his facebook wall on December 12, 2016 after NDC lost the elections.
The post has since been taken down after widespread circulation and critique.
Below is the verbatim post.
โThe NPP's overwhelming victory has completely changed the electoral map of our country. Since the 2000 elections, the parties that win elections tend to do better in their second term. Just last week the two-term cycle is pushing the NDC out. If this trend continues, which l'm certain will, the NDC will be decimated in 2020. Now NPP will be 5% short of a supermajority for the next parliament
The danger is that if the NDC is humbled again, completely, and their seats reduced further as is their popular vote in 2020, I am certain they will struggle to be competitive in 2024. This means the two -term theory won't work for them.
They need a flag bearer outside their 4 alleged strongholds of volta, northern, upper east, and upper west regions. Literally at this time inaction isn't an option. A deliberate agenda to make the party much attractive to middle class folks and young voters should be championed. Ghana needs a strong opposition party.โ
