🥳 Happy New Year, #UtahCounty! May the year ahead be filled with more water conservation, fewer lakebed development plans, and no more “restoration” schemes unsupported by actual science! #SaveUtahLake
Calling me “trash” is a step too far @SpencerJCox 😢 If you continue to think of me this way, imagine what your fellow humans think? I’m sure our developer friends will be glad to know y’all might still be open to their brand of pseudo “restoration” solutions for my trashiness
Governor Cox says he hasn't taken a position on the Utah Lake Islands project, but "it's kind of a trashed lake."
@SpencerJCox, could we talk?
You are reinforcing negative stereotypes about the lake and undermining your objective to make it a recreation destination.

Did you know?
1. Utah Lake is 24 miles long, 12 miles across (over 96,000 acres)
2. Utah Lake is the third largest fresh water lake west of the Mississippi
3. The average depth of Utah Lake is nine feet. Maximum depth is 14 feet
If everyone in #Utah doesn’t begin immediately to shift outdated water usage attitudes & habits toward #conservation, keeping your lawns green will be the least of our worries, friends.
Lake Bonneville was a large, ancient lake that existed from about 32 to 14 thousand years ago. This storymap on Lake Bonneville, summarizes geologic evidence of the most significant lake levels of the Bonneville basin over the past 30,000 years–https://t.co/QuLtN5kJ8F

“Water is necessary for each of our lives” is truth and should but often doesn’t include all other-than-human lives. Yes, friends, store your water AND AT THE SAME TIME find ways to conserve and preserve clean water for all your non-human neighbors!
Water is necessary for each of our lives. To be ready for survival we need to take the vital measures of having a storage of clean drinking water and learning how to safely treat it. Be Ready Utah has a variety of great educational resources if you visit https://t.co/Y8gIPupSGr.
Couldn’t agree more, @UtahDNR! Lakes (like me!) not created or designed by human will and engineering also serve purposes beyond mere recreation (or development for that matter 😉) #SlowTheFlow & #SaveH2O for all our sakes!
Every reservoir serves a purpose beyond just recreational. Lake Powell serves as a source of power generation & water storage and is currently at 25.18% capacity. #SlowTheFlow & #SaveH2O to ensure that our impact on reservoirs across the state is as minimal as possible. #Utah
Just because a so called lake “restoration” project is so massive that it will cost you taxpayers billions and take decades to complete does not mean it’s a worthwhile cause. Not sure I can say it any louder #utpol 4/4
I shouldn’t be surprised when no one seeks my opinion on matters re: development along my shores or as in recent proposals, on my actual lakebed. I mean, I get it. I’m old and my voice can be difficult to hear. Still, all you gotta do is get closer and lean in. 1/4
like those proposed by @UTLakeProject & at least tacitly condoned by @SpencerJCox@utahsenate & @utahreps. Those kinds of projects are far from restorative and constitute more of the same narrowmindedness that created our shared conundrum in the first place. 3/4
Much love to Kaylee Tanner @BYU for laying out the facts about my algae blooms. When you’re a body without a voice, it’s nice when others speak truth on your behalf!
One of the biggest misconceptions about Utah Lake is that it's getting worse.
A new study by Kaylee Tanner @BYU shows that blooms have decreased over the past 40 years, with the largest improvements in summer and fall.
