Circuit Breakers and Fuses: Protecting Electrical Circuits
Circuit breakers and fuses are important protective devices designed to help protect electrical circuits from excessive current and certain fault conditions.
A fuse contains a conductor designed to melt when the current exceeds its rated limit, opening the circuit and interrupting the flow of electricity. Once a fuse operates, it normally needs to be replaced with the correct type and rating.
A circuit breaker can automatically disconnect a circuit when a fault or excessive current is detected, depending on the type of breaker. Many breakers can be reset after the cause of the fault has been identified and corrected.
The protective device must be correctly matched to the circuit, conductor size, equipment, and applicable electrical requirements. Installing a larger fuse or breaker simply to stop it from tripping can create a serious fire hazard.
If a breaker repeatedly trips, do not keep resetting it without investigating the cause. Possible problems may include overloads, short circuits, faulty equipment, or wiring faults.
Never bypass, bridge, or disable a protective device to keep a circuit operating.
Protection devices are there for a reason: find the fault, correct it, and keep the circuit safe.
Single-phase motors use a capacitor to create a phase shift between windings, producing a rotating magnetic field and starting torque.
Some motors also use a run capacitor to improve efficiency and performance.

My daughter has been doing a lot of painting lately, she's been keeping my printers busy... and we found this item on Amazon last night. She wanted it... so we decided to see if I could just 3D print it instead.
So, I had ChatGPT look at the item and the Amazon listing, and create a printable STL file (I believe it used Blender to create this)... and it did awesome! There are a few slight differences... but this is amazing!
We live in a world where you can see something, and then just print it out and have it within 24 hours. ๐คฏ
this is a hybrid drone-rover that i made that can attach and detach
the drone can carry the rover and vice versa, and they can also separate into two independently operating agents.
to reduce weight i used only one actuator to move 10 different parts through 6 spur gears. the rover can also catch the drone without power: there's 4 elastic doors that spring out of the way and snap back onto the drone.
almost every part of the rover is 3D printed out of PLA and can be made on any hobbyist printer.

It's Manly Monday!
Share anything cool you've seen lately! Games, mods, music, even your own projects!
Today's shoutout goes to LRL Customs, a 3D printing mini builder who made these custom Yautja Predator models based on Doom Slayer and Dead Space.
The Metro 2033 Artyom Helmet! Here's something we've never done before - a Metro 2033 piece! I'm still pretty new to the Metro franchise but this should be an awesome way to get into it!

The olive-drab plastic canteen (and the nested metal cup that doubles as a boiler) stabilized in the 1960s and continues in the issue load. The cup in particular is functionally identical to ones used for generations.
Just don't put anything but water in it...
My uncle is 71. Retired electrician. Spent forty years making sure buildings didn't burn down. Doesn't talk much but when he does, it counts.
We had a big family dinner, Easter, maybe twenty people, and my cousin brought his new girlfriend. She's in HR. She seemed fine. Normal conversation until she asked my uncle what he did.
He told her. Electrician, commercial work, forty years.
She said, "Oh interesting. Did you ever think about going into a professional field?"
The table went quiet in that specific way where everyone heard it but nobody wanted to confirm they heard it.
My uncle cut his ham, chewed once, and said, "Every time I kept somebody from getting electrocuted, I thought about it."
She laughed like he was joking. He wasn't joking.
I'm not mad at her. She probably grew up being told that a building full of desks is more professional than a building full of tools. That's a failure of imagination more than anything else.
Just maybe ask a follow-up question before you rank a stranger's forty-year career at Easter dinner. That's all.
We finally decided to start bringing our water filter tower from home during our camping trips. I'm pretty sure water quality is all over the board from campground to campground, and this provides a level of consistency. We'll be in our camper 4 1/2 months in 2027...
